Elizabeth Fry Week is Proclaimed in Sudbury ~ May 02-08, 2016

Posted: April 19th, 2016 in Uncategorized

Each year, the Canadian Association of Elizabeth Fry Societies(CAEFS) celebrated National Elizabeth Fry Week during the week leading up to Mother’s Day.  This week is proclaimed annually in Sudbury, in support of the local branch, as Elizabeth Fry Week.  On Monday, May 02, 2016, Mayor Brian Bigger will be reading the proclamation.

The goal is to enhance public awareness and education around victimized and criminalized women in Canada.

Events and activities take place throughout the week that focus on meeting women’s needs in the community, break down stereotypes that exist about women who are imprisoned and institutionalized and encourage positive and responsible community responses to criminal justice matters.
